A week back I posted an awesome video of Keller Williams’ Grateful Gospel crushing “Eyes of the World > Franklin’s Tower” at High Sierra. Luckily for us, a crisp FM recording of the entire set surfaced yesterday.
Keller Williams welcomed guitarist Stu Allen on guitar into the Grateful Gospel for the entire set.
Instead of opting for a straight Grateful Dead set, Keller chose tunes that fit into his Gospel theme with the beautiful back-ups vocals courtesy of Sugar Davis, Faye Rachel Moore, and Tanya Jackson. This made for a more interesting set of deeper Dead and Jerry Garcia Band tunes that aren’t heard much any more like “Midnight Moonlight” and “Palm Sunday.”
Keller did of course treat High Sierra to some classic Dead as well with covers of “Brokedown Palace,” “The Wheel,” and the “Ripple” set closer.
