With the Dead and Company’s epic summer tour behind us, what’s a deadhead to do? Luckily there are a ton of other musicians carrying on the legacy of the Dead on the touring and festival circuit this summer. One of those is Keller Williams.
Williams is a zany, crazy-talented instrumentalist who pays homage to the Dead with his gospel infused act—Keller Williams’ Grateful Gospel. Keller and his gospel act played a two hour set of Dead tunes on Sunday afternoon on the main stage at High Sierra Music Festival this past weekend.
One of of the highlights of the show was the 18+ minute “Eyes of the World > Franklin’s Tower” jam. Phil Lesh collaborator and Terrapin Crossroads usual suspect, Stu Allen sat in on the jam and added some extra fire power with his guitar. While Williams is known for his solo work, he and his gospel ensemble really shine on these Dead tunes.
Thanks to Ted Silverman for the great footage.
