This past Tuesday, Gov’t Mule continued their European tour with another show in Germany, this time in Karlsruhe. The night before, Mule was in Dortmund and treated KZW to “Whipping Post.” In keeping with the Gregg Allman tributes, Warren and the boys busted out some ABB for Karlsruhe as well.
The first set was old school, through and through with only the last song of the set, “Stone Cold Rage” being off their new album. The second set started with the rumbling base line of “Game Face” and eventually gave way to a stripped down “Mountain Jam” cover. Mule shared a few songs off the new album in the second set as well like “Sarah Surrender” and “Revolution Come, Revolution Go.”
For the encore, Mule shared their new tune “Traveling Tune” which was the first song they played at the Summer Camp set earlier this summer after they heard the news of Gregg’s passing. the followed up the mournful tune with a raucous rendition of “Gonna send you back to Georgia > Statesboro Blues > Gonna send you back to Georgia.” Another fitting tribute to Gregg and another great European Mule show in the books!
