It’s still hard to believe that Gregg Allman passed away earlier this week. The only solace for ABB fans is the legacy Gregg left behind and the amazing tributes that have happened in the wake of his death. One of his closest colleagues and former bandmates, Warren Haynes joined the chorus of musicians who have paid tribute to Gregg.
The day the news broke, Mule was slated to have a slot at Summer Camp Music Festival. Warren opens the set on a somber tone, “I would say how you doin’, but I know how I’m doin and I know a lot of you feel the same way.” Warren then goes on to say how Gregg’s death effects the entire music community and this is a time to celebrate him.
Mule opens the set with the somber tune, “Traveling Tune” that Warren says “you’ve never heard before” off of “Revolution Come…Revolution Go.” Warren then launches into the Allman Brothers classic “Dreams” with special guests Chuck Garvey, Vinnie Amico & Jim Loughlin.
To end the set, Mule pulls out the big guns and does one more Allman Brothers cover—”Whipping Post.” Warren welcomes members of moe. and Umphrey’s McGee for the cover including Al Schnier, Kris Myers & Andy Farag. See if you can spot the ‘Les Brers in A Minor’ tease in there as well.
