Phil Lesh and his current line-up of friends is roaring up the East Coast. After breaking in the brand new The Anthem theater in D.C., Phil hit Asbury Park and then Camden on Friday night.
The show followed the two before it with Phil, the Terrapin Family Band, Nicki Bluhm and Robert Randolph rockin’ the first set and Jazz Hall Preservation Band joining for half of the second set. While the whole show is gold, the tunes at the beginning of the second set where the Preservation Hall Jazz Band are stellar. The set starts out with a funky “Shakedown Street,” followed up a blazing “New Minglewood Blues” and a dark and brooding “New Speedway Boogie” with an ever so small “Other One” tease that slowly builds into an explosive ending.
This is one of the best line-ups Phil has had in years.
Phil and the gang have one more show in the all-too-brief east coast tour – The Capitol Theater on Halloween.
