Dark Star Orchestra landed at the Capitol Theater for a pair of shows at the end of last week. DSO is on the road, recreating classic Dead shows across America and is about to hit the festival circuit.
For the first of the two shows at the Cap, DSO chose to recreate a show that happened 42 years ago to the day. The Grateful Dead’s run of shows in May of 1977 is considered by many to be the best month of their three-decade career. The highlights from the May 17, 1977 Dead show at the Memorial Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, AL include a “Scar>Fire” for the ages, “Jack A Roe,” “High Time,” “Terrapin Station,” and “Mississippi Halfstep.”
Take a listen and see if DSO does the classic May ’77 show justice.
