Thanks to Jim Kelly and Dennis Orr for the recording! Jim had to educate the security at the Macon City Auditorium about how Mule allowed taping. He missed “Grinnin’ In Your Face” and part of “Mule” as a result.
After a two-night stand at the Georgia Theater in Athens, the Mule marched into Macon—home to the Allman Brothers Band. Warren, former Allman Brothers Band member couldn’t let the opportunity of being in Macon without making the evening special.
Before the show, Warren made a pitstop at the Big House to pick up Duane Allman’s Les Paul Goldtop to play for the evening.
After a classic Mule set, Warren invited another Allman Brothers Band alumni to the stage for the entire second set. Guitarist Jack Pearson joined Mule for an entire second set for a celebration of the Allman Brothers Band.
Of the eight ABB tunes, River Alph was able to get some great footage of two including smokin’ renditions of “Blue Sky” and “Whipping Post.”
