Update: Thanks to Jeffery Bowling for the soundboard feed!
One of the thing that sets LOCKN’ apart are the early morning sets in the Terrapin Porch Tent. Most “early” sets at festival start at noon, but things get started at LOCKN at the Terrapin Porch Tent at 10 AM which is plenty early when you have been rocking out for hours on end in the wee hours of the morning.
This year, Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning sets at the Terrapin Porch Tent are billed as “Piano on the Porch.” Friday morning’s set was courtesy of Danny Louis from Gov’t Mule and this morning’s set is from legendary Jerry Garcia Band keyboardist Melvin Seals. Yesterday morning, Piano on the Porch brought the sweet sounds of Holly Bowling to the Terrapin Porch Tent.
To honor the 40th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s seminal album, Terrapin Station, Holly took 20 minutes to stretch out a version of the title track. “Terrapin Station” in the Terrapin Porch Tent, in front of a replica Terrapin Station album cover on the 40th anniversary of the release of Terrapin Station—pretty cool.
