The Ardmore hosted some serious talent on Friday including George Porter Jr (The Meters), Eric Krasno (Soulive), Alan Evans (Soulive), Tom Hamilton (JRAD), Mike “Maz” Maher (Snarky Puppy), Chris Bullock (Snarky Puppy), Glenn McClelland (Ween) and Kim Dawson (Pimps of Joytime.) The all-star cast went my the moniker A Funky Friday In Ardmore which was an apt name for the band since they brought the funk to the Ardmore on Friday.
Nestled among the jams A Funky Friday in Ardmore played, were plenty of Grateful Dead classics. Hearing both Tom Hamilton and Eric Krasno jam on Dead tunes is definitely a treat.
In addition to Grateful Dead tunes, the super group did their take on funk classics like “It’s Your Thing” and “Keep on Marching.”
