The Grateful Dead are back on YouTube with another installment of All the Years Live. The Latest footage comes from summer tour 1989.
At the Dead’s stop at RFK stadium in DC on July 12, 1989, they kicked off the second set in grand style with “Sugaree.” Here is what Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux notes about the performance—“From Jerry Garcia’s first solo record, Sugaree debuted on July 31, 1971, in New Haven, CT, and was played frequently, appearing in the repertoire every year from 1971-1995. Many consider 1977 to be the year of its peak performances, but terrific versions appeared often every year it was played.”
Thanks to the Grateful Dead for the footage!
