Phish’s epic 13-show run at Madison Square Garden came to an end last night, but not before some fanfare. In part PR move, part genuine gesture, NYC declared yesterday officially Phish day in NYC. The impact that the Baker’s Dozen isn’t only felt by Phish fans, but all of NYC in a small way. Phans far and wide made their way to MSG for all or part of this magical run and brought their kindness, energy and passion with them.
Thanks for the memories we shared, we'll never forget either. By official proclamation, today is @Phish Day! pic.twitter.com/PqUA9CZha6

Night 13 was glazed donut night. Phish mixed things up again for their final night and started the night off with an original tune, “Dogs Stole Things.” There were plenty of tunes Phish managed to wedge into the first set, but there were a couple of notable jams. Check out “Camel Walk” and the absolutely bonkers Jimi Hendrix cover of “Izabella” to end the first set. The Hendrix gem was the bust-out of the evening and hadn’t been performed since 1998-07-31 (574 shows.)
The second set kicked-off with another monster “Simple” jam, similar to what we saw back in Chicago earlier in the summer. After segueing into Trey’s new song, “Come Together,” Phish covered Bowie for second time this summer and treated MSG to “Starman.” Then came the jam of the evening, and easily one of the best of the Baker’s Dozen run—”You Enjoy Myself.” As FZappa20 said in his recap, the “You Enjoy Myself” jam from last night let you know that “I’m still the king of this shit.” YEM got the trampoline treatment from Trey and Mike and was followed by a face-melting jam.
For the encore, Phish still had a couple tricks up it’s sleeve. The opening encore tune was the Willie Nelson tune, “On the Road Again.” The lyric “The life I love is making music with my friends” was evident throughout the entire Baker’s Dozen run and a fitting way to end the 13th show. Just for laughs more than anything else, Phish brought back the never ending “Lawn Boy” from earlier in the Baker’s Dozen run and put an exclamation point on the run with “Tweezer Reprise.”
Thank you to phish for the amazing run at MSG and thank you to the tapers for getting these historic shows out to the fans ASAP! Less than a month until Dick’s!
