This past Tuesday marked the 46th anniversary of the Kent State shootings. It was out of this tragedy that one of Crosby Stills Nash and Young’s most powerful songs was born—Ohio. The song was recorded just 17 days after the shooting and released the following month as a single. “Find the Cost of Freedom,” an ode to our fallen soldiers, written by Stephen Stills was released on the single as a b-side.
When the two of these classics are performed together, it’s a chilling experience. Especially with the beautiful harmonies of Warren Haynes and Grace Potter. Throw in some gritty guitar solos from Warren and you have a match made in heaven.
Watch Grace and Warren sing this American anthem in Jamaica, because why not? Warren and Gov’t Mule hosted their first-ever Island Exodus back in 2010 in Negril, Jamaica.
