Check out this crisp, audience footage of Warren Haynes and Gov’t Mule performing a stellar “I’ll Be The One” with a soaring Blue Sky solo courtesy of Warren. “I’ll Be The One” is a Warren Haynes original off his 1993 album Tales of Ordinary Madness and “Blue Sky” is a Dickey Betts’ special off the Allman Brothers’ album Eat a Peach. While Gregg Allman may have a bone to pick with Dickey, the legendary Allman Brothers’ guitarist has been a huge influence to Warren.
Warren will tease “Blue Sky” in the middle of jams and has played it plenty on his latest tour with his Ashes and Dust band, but according to Mule Base Gov’t Mule has never played the song in it’s entirety. Mule Base also reports that this performance of “I’ll Be the One” with the Blue Sky solo is the only one Mule has done in their illustrious touring career.
