Last night, the late, great drummer and founding member of the Allman Brothers Band was paid tribute to at American Beauty in NYC. The tribute had a double billing that included guitar prodigy, Brandon Niederauer “TAZ” and Big In China.
Brandon may only be 13 years old, but plays classics like “Voodoo Chile” and “Whipping Post” like he’s been practicing them for decades. Butch was a mentor and close friend to Brandon. Taz over the last few years was a frequent collaborator with Butch as well as other ABB members.
Niederauer played originals and a few killer covers to open up the evening. He guitar playing on the Jimi Hendrix classic is simply stunning.
