It feels so good to see Phil and his crew back in action at the Terrapin Crossroads. Phil and Friends have played a handful of outdoor gigs in the last few weeks. On Thursday earlier this week, Phil, Grahame Lesh, Stu Allen, and Jason Crosby visited the backyard again for another Dead set.

Phil Lesh and a gang of friends were back at the Terrapin Crossroads Backyard this past Thursday for another installment of Songs to Phil the Air! Phil Lesh brought Stu Allen, Scott Guberman and Alex Koford along with him for the gig.

Among the Dead classics they explored was a tasty “Cryptical Envelopment > The Other One > Cryptical Envelopment” that clocked in over 17 minutes.

Phil Lesh has joined forces for jam band all-stars moe. for the third time in the last couple of years. Last year Phil, Bobby and moe. teamed up on the last day of LOCKN’ and in May Phil and moe. teamed up at Summer Camp. Over the last weekend, moe. traveled to the Bay Area and teamed up with Phil and the Terrapin Family band for a four-show run.

The last show of the run was outside in the TrX Backyard and started early in the afternoon before Phil and the Terrapin Family Band played into the late afternoon and evening.

Thanks to nowiknowuryder we have some great footage of the final backyard show. In addition to a smokin’ “Deal,” Moe Phil also covered The Band’s “The Weight.”

Watch Weir, Lesh and Friends Pay Tribute to Tom Petty with “Breakdown / Playin’ Reprise” – 10/6/2017 Full Show Video

Phil Lesh and Bob Weir teamed up to play an intimate show for charity at Phil’s Terrapin Crossroads last night. The show was in the backyard and featured Peter Rowan, Mihali Savoulidis, Grahame Lesh among other guests. The proceeds went to Habitat Humanity’s special fund, Humanity Hammers Back.

Among the Dead songs and covers the super group played was a tribute to the late Tom Petty. Since Petty’s passing earlier this week, musicians all across the rock scene have paid their respects to the iconic rocker by playing his music.

Watch Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band Unleash “Ohio” at Terrapin Crossroads on July 4

While Bob Weir was crisscrossing the US this summer with Dead and Co, Phil Lesh was content to hold court on the coasts with a short run in Colorado. On America’s Independence Day, Phil put on a special show with the Terrapin Family Band in the backyard of Terrapin Crossroads. The Terrapin Family Band line-up includes Grahame Lesh, Ross James, Jason Crosby and Alex Koford.

Among the Dead tunes and covers they played was this badass version of CSNY’s “Ohio.” The protest anthem was originally written by Neil Young and was written in response to seeing the photos of the Kent State shooting in Life magazine. The tune took CSNY only a few takes to get write in the studio.

On the cover, guitarist Ross James rips into the solo with authority and makes the song his own. Phil is feeling it too, rocking a button down with American flag stallions that only Phil could pull off.
