Joe Russo’s Almost Dead kicked off their fall tour at the Brooklyn Bowl last night. The tour includes six glorious nights at the Brooklyn Bowl before heading west south for Suwannee Hulaween and then out west.

With Tom Petty’s sudden death still fresh on everyone’s mind, JRAD took the opportunity last night to do their own impromptu tribute. Coming out of “Dark Star,” JRAD started in on “Let It Grow” before Scott Metzger high-jacked the song and dove head first into a “Runnin’ Down a Dream” jam. The whole band crushes it, but Metzger steals the spotlight with his high-flying guitar solo. The Petty jam dissolves into Buddy Holly’s anthem “Not Fade Away.”

Thanks to Lazy Lightning for the great, front-row footage!
