The Grateful Dead have released another installment of All the Years Live on YouTube. The latest footage brings us back to Orchard Park on July 4th, 1989.
This show was captured on one of the most significant live releases of the Dead’s career—Truckin’ Up to Buffalo. After a second set opening “Touch of Grey,” the Dead launched into “Man Smart, Woman Smarter.” Here is what Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux has to say about the performance, “This calypso cover first appeared in the Dead’s setlists in 1981, and settled into a second-set pre-Drums slot, played occasionally and always getting the crowd dancing. Sometimes, when they were in the mood, Brent would take a verse, always welcome.”
Thanks to the Grateful Dead for the footage!
