The Grateful Dead have returned to YouTube with another installment of All the Years Live. The latest concert footage comes from Orchard Park during the summer of 1990.
Deep in the second set, Jerry lead the Dead in a beautiful performance of “Wharf Rat.” Here is what Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux notes about the performance: “Wharf Rat appeared steadily in the repertoire since its debut in February 1971 until 1995, and was always a very welcome song to appear in the ‘ballad slot’ in many second sets. It first appeared commercially on Skull & Roses, and is one of the few Grateful Dead originals for which there is no recorded studio version, with the Skull & Roses rendition being the definitive version.”
Thanks to the Grateful Dead for the footage!
