2018 Full Show AUD

Update: Thanks to Z-man for the full show AUD!

The Soul Rebels, hailing from New Orleans, are an eight-piece funk band that fuses soul, jazz, funk, hip-hop, rock and pop music all within a big brass framework. Yea, they are a lot of fun.

The Soul Rebels are finishing up an East coast leg of their tour this week. This past Saturday, the Rebels invaded Brooklyn and put on a hell of a show at Brooklyn Bowl. Guitar legend in the making, Marcus King was on hand and sat in with the Rebels for a proud and loud version of Hendrix’s classic “Voodoo Child.”

Listen to JRAD’s Brooklyn Bowl Finale – 3/10/2018 Full Show AUD

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead finished up their Brooklyn Bowl run on Saturday night with another barn-burner. As with the nights before, JRAD had plenty of bust-outs, debuts and surprises tucked into the 3+ hour show.

JRAD kicked off the first set with a debut of the Rolling Stones’ “The Last Time.” The Grateful Dead played the song 70 times in their final years on the road. Some Radiohead teases followed during “Shakedown Street” and continued throughout the night. Jerry Garcia Band’s “Mission in the Rain” was another notable bust-out in the first set.

The second set featured a pair of debuts as well including Zeppelin’s “Good Times Bad Times.” Most of JRAD is familiar with the Zep tune and plenty of others as they are all part of the Zeppelin tribute, Bustle in Your Hedgerow. The other debut in the second set was The Band’s “Chest Fever.”

The big debut came at the end of the first set. It’s hard to believe, but it took JRAD 144 shows before they played “Next Time You See Me.” The Junior Parker tune was a staple of Pigpen-era Grateful Dead.

UPDATE: Watch John Mayer Sit-In with JRAD for “Althea,” “New Minglewood Blues,” & More at Brooklyn Bowl – 10/13/2017 Full Show AUD

Update: Thanks to Peter Costello & Eric McRoberts for the SBD/AUD UltraMix recording – it sounds amazing!

JRAD powered on from an amazing performance last night at the Brooklyn Bowl for their fifth show of a six-show run. Joe Russo and the gang had another card up their sleeve to bring the fire again-John Mayer.

Mayer is making these Brooklyn Bowl sit-ins with JRAD a habit. Last year, Mayer sat in during JRAD’s fall run in Brooklyn as well.

The Dead and Company guitarist is in between his solo gigs and the November Dead and Co tour. With just a few weeks before the Dead and Co MSG dates, Johnny Lightning is getting refocused on playing the Dead and what better way to do it than with JRAD?

Mayer’s sit-in started at the end of the first set with one of his signature “Althea” jams and continued into the beginning of the second set with a massive “Jam > Here Comes Sunshine” and a dirty “New Minglewood Blues.” Mayer makes one of the most exciting bands in the land somehow a little more exciting to watch.

After retreating backstage, Mayer came out for the encore which started with the extraordinary Marco Benevento soloing and segued into “Such a Night > Franklin’s Tower.”
