Listen to Dead and Company Welcome 2020 with Three Glorious Sets in San Francisco – 12/31/2019 SBD

Dead and Company reprised their fall fun run with a two-city New Years run that included stops in LA and San Francisco. At the Chase Center in SF, Bob Weir, Billy Kruetzmann, Mickey Hart, John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti delivered three, jam-packed sets to welcome in 2020.

The three sets enabled Dead & Co to legally fit in both a “Help > Slip > Frank” and a “Scar > Fire.” Other highlights include “Eyes of the World,” “Estimated Prophet,” “Sugaree,” and so many more.

Before the clock struck midnight, Garcia’s daughter Trixie Garcia and her half-sister, Ken Kesey’s daughter Sunshine Kesey, flew above the crowd in the arena in a bi-plane. The ladies and flapper dancers on stage were dressed in 1920s attire as they welcomed the 2020s.

Listen to Dead and Company’s Jazzy Night One at the Mothership – 11/8/2019 AUD

Dead and Company’s mini Fall Fun Run pulled into it’s final stop last night—Hampton, VA. While the Grateful Dead played at the Hampton Coliseum 21 times from 1979 to 1992, Dead and Company officially made their debut there last night.

Often referred to as the Mothership, Dead & Co’s poster from last night featured the Coliseum as a spaceship.

Dead and Co kicked off the first set with a “Bertha” that got the dance party started. Bobby and the crew traded “Shakedown Street”‘s typical breakneck funk for more of a jazzy swagger that pervaded the rest of the two sets.

While all the band members are firing on all cylinders, Dead and Company keyboardist Jeff Chimenti was really on fire last night.

John and Jeff built on the jazzy evening with riffing on Roger and Hammerstein’s “My Favorite Things” out of “Space.”

Thanks to Bushidó for the recording!

Dead and Company returned for their second of two shows at the famed Madison Square Garden in NYC last night. After a rockin’ night one, Dead & Co delivered the goods again on night two.

Take a look at this setlist. Whoa!

As you can see, the second set was straight fire. Anytime you kick off set two with a “Scar > Fire” you’re in good shape.

While there was a whole lot of good ol’ Dead last night, Dead and Company’s second night at MSG featured a rare guest—singer and songwriter Maggie Rogers. The 25 year old Maryland born singer joined in on “Friend of the Devil” in the first set and then returned for “The Weight” encore.
