Warren Haynes’ has assembled and launched his annual Christmas Jam for the 30th time this weekend. The jam band institution has been raising funds for Habitat for Humanity for the last 20 years and has transformed Asheville for one weekend every December. This year, there are two days of Christmas Jam spanning a half dozen venues with both day and evening events. While Christmas Jam officially started last night, the party started on Thursday night with the pre-Christmas Jam.

The main event on Friday night was Gov’t Mule’s Dark Side of the Mule—a full show of the Mule covering Pink Floyd. Warren and the Mule have delivered Dark Side of the Mule throughout the summer and fall, but tonight was special with the addition of two special guests (among others.) Captain Ron Holloway added firepower throughout the show on the sax and My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James joined Warren for a cover of “Us and Them” that will give you goosebumps.
