Watch Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s Epic “Comfortably Numb > Morning Dew” to Close Out Westville Music Bowl Run – 9/4/2021 AUD

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead has found a new home this summer. JRAD and their voracious approach to the Dead catalogue actually is at home in many venues including LOCKN and the Capitol Theatre. This summer, they added the newly christened Westville Music Bowl in New Haven, CT to the list.

JRAD performed on three separate weekends at Westville this summer for a total of 9 shows. After their final show this past weekend, a banner commemorating their 9-show residency this summer was unraveled from the rafters of the stadium.

In their LOCKN shows earlier in the summer, JRAD showed off their ability to jam and explore other catalogue’s including Pink Floyd’s. JRAD ended their 9th show with some more Floyd—a soaring cover of “Comfortably Numb” that segued into an equally spine tingling “Morning Dew.”

Listen to David Gilmour’s “Comfortably Numb” in Gdańsk from 2006

Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has been steadily releasing archival and new music over the last few months. The latest from his YouTube channel is another track from the 2006 Gdańsk Shipyard concert.

In 2006, David Gilmour On an Island tour came to an end in Gdańsk, Poland. This epic finale to the tour was captured on the Live in Gdańsk album put out in 2008. One of Pink Floyd classic tunes was performed masterfully with the help of the Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra—”Comfortably Numb.”

On an unrelated note, Gilmour is also celebrating his 75th birthday today!

Thanks to Gilmour for continuing to release audio from this historic show.

Watch Warren Haynes Cover Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Lynyrd Skynyrd Down on the Farm

Warren Haynes returned for one final show at South Farms in Morris, CT yesterday afternoon. Uncle Warren performed seven shows in total at the socially distanced venue with fellow Gov’t Mule bandmate, Danny Louis.

Each of the seven shows featured a diverse setlist, with plenty of covers. Warren’s final show at the Farm featured just an absolute gem of a setlist and included covers of Van Morrison, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Allman Brothers Band, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynrd and more. Yea, it was a hell of show. To cap off the run, Warren treated fans to “Wish You Were Here > Comfortably Numb > Wish You Were Here.”

Any day I come across some shaky concert footage nowadays is a good day. Twiddle performed the second of three Higher Ground Drive-In Experience shows in Essex Junction, VT.

During the two sets, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer joined Twiddle for a few tunes. For the encore, Taz emerged once again and jammed with Twiddle on Pink Floyd’s masterpiece “Comfortably Numb.”

Taz and Twiddle have teamed up before. Check out Taz and Twiddle jam on “Free Bird” at the Cap.

Thanks to Michael Liacos for the footage, car horns and all!
