Bob Weir was everyweir last year, including an incredible sit in with Phish in Nashville that nabbed him the Jam Buzzer for the Best Sit In of the Year. It’s been nearly 6 months since that sit-in and the conditions were right at Wanee for Trey to repay the favor.
Bobby’s Saturday afternoon set at Wanee started out like all of his Campfire gigs. Weir came out to sing a few songs solo on the acoustic guitar before the rest of the Campfire band would join him later in the set. After launching into “Two Djin > Corrina > Two Djin,” Bobby treated Wanee to possibly the greatest sit in of Wanee and welcomed Trey Anastasio from Phish to the stage.
The acoustic duo dug into “Deep Elem Blues,” “Friend of the Devil,” “Bird Song,” Phish’s ballad from their newest album Big Boat entitled “Miss You” and a cover of Lady Gaga’s “Million Reasons” because why the hell not?
Two Djin > Corrina > Two Djin
At the time of publishing, Suwannee HD Streams has posted incredible HD video of most of the set. The only piece missing was the opening “Deep Elem Blues” duet which was luckily captured by Scott Mederios.
