Gov’t Mule landed at Red Rocks on Sunday night for two sets of good ‘ol classic Mule.

For the encore, Warren said “50 years ago today…” and started the legendary “Voodoo Child” guitar riff. Jimi Hendrix’s rise and shine set on Sunday morning is one of the defining moments of Jimi Hendrix’s career, Woodstock and rock and roll history. Mule’s stellar “Voodoo Child” jam reaches the 15 minute mark.

Listen to My Morning Jacket Kick Off Red Rocks Run – 8/2/2019 AUD

My Morning Jacket’s performances have been few and far between since their absolutely stunning LOCKN’ performance back in 2016. Frontman Jim James has been touring and MMJ has reunited for their annual One Big Holiday paradise excursion, but the band has had a proper tour in years.

James and MMW returned to the stage for the first time since March last night for their first of two shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater.

MMJ’s 17 song set and encore included tunes spanning their 20 year career. One of the highlights of the night was the sprawling 27 minute take on the epic “Dondante.”

Watch Bob Weir Join Jackie Greene at Red Rocks for “Sugaree” and More

Jackie Greene joined forces with Blues Traveler and Leftover Salmon at Red Rocks for a July 4th celebration. During Jackie’s set, an old friend who is in town for a show of his own joined for a few tunes.

Dead and Company’s tour left Dallas and headed to final destination in Boulder, CO for a pair of shows. Between gigs, Bob Weir took his day off to join Jackie Greene at Red Rocks.

Among the songs Bobby sat in on were “Sugaree,” “Standing on Shaky Ground” and “The National Anthem.”

Listen to Mike Gordon Join Moe for a Massive “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” at Red Rocks

Buffalo jam veterans moe. performed at Red Rocks this past weekend with support from Mike Gordon and White Denim. Deep into the second set, Mike Gordon was invited to the stage to jam with moe.

After a set of originals, Gordo and moe. treated Red Rocks to a smokin’ 20 minute rendition of the Allman Brothers Band’s “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.”

moe. also tucked in a nice cover of The Vapors’ 1980 “Turning Japanese” right before curfew for the encore.

Red Rocks hosted a hell of a bill on September 22 headlined by JJ Grey and Mofro and supported by The Magpie Salute and a special collaboration between North Mississippi Allstars and Anders Osborne. North Mississippi Osborne (N.M.O.) has teamed up before and is a potent mix of diverse flavors of the blues.

The short set included North Mississippi Allstar and Anders Osborne originals including some killer covers including the N.M.A. goto Dead cover “Deep Elem Blues” and Neil Young’s “Down By the River.”
