Umphrey’s McGee kicked off their extended 29 date winter tour entitled ‘Wax On, Wax Off’ this past weekend at the National in Richmond, VA. UM will be joined by seven different opening acts this tour including the Marcus King Band, Robert Walter’s 20th Congress and more.

For their second show at the National, UM treated Richmond to a rip-roaring version of Jimi Hendrix’s “Power of Soul.” The late-career Hendrix tune is one of the highlights off of the Band of Gypsys album. UM kicks off “Power of Soul” with an explosive guitar intro and then spends 13 minutes exploring the Hendrix deep cut.
