In addition to Kadlecik and Burbridge, Jay Lane was on drums, and Benjie Porecki on keys. JK and his crew jammed on some Dead and JGB material including a rocking “What’s Become of Mary > How Sweet It Is” to end the first set.

Watch Oteil and Taz Absolutely Destroy “Lovelight” on NYE in Brooklyn – 12/31/2018 Full Show AUD

Oteil, who started off the New Years runs four days earlier, was back in New York to celebrate NYE. Oteil and his crew were ringing in the new year at the Brooklyn Bowl with very special guest, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer.

Oteil’s line-up included Melvin Seals, Eric Krasno, John Kadlecik, Jay Lane, & Jennifer Hartswick plus Natalie Cressman & Weedie Braimah.

After Oteil and friends counted down to 2019, they burst into “Lovelight.” Taz took center stage with an absolutely blistering guitar solo. Oteil’s look as Taz was jamming is priceless. UPDATE: Listen to Oteil Burbridge and Scott Metzger’s Sublime VIP Grateful Dead Set at Peach

Thanks to Keith Litzenberger for the updated soundboard of the VIP set and a great recording of Oteil’s set later in the day!

The Peach Festival was full of surprise sit-ins and awesome collaborations. One of the special treats VIP Peach goers got was a set of Grateful Dead tunes from Oteil Burbridge and Scott Metzger. Oteil and Scott are both well versed in the Grateful Dead catalogue as they are founding members of Dead and Company and Joe Russo’s Almost dead respectively.

The Peach Festival had a stacked Sunday. After Oteil and Scott’s VIP set, Peach got to Wake Up with Warren before Oteil and Friends and Gov’t Mule had sets later in the day.

Listen to the Golden Gate Wingmen Knock ‘Em Dead in Stroudsburg – 3/24/2018 Full Show AUD

The Golden Gate Wingmen are a Grateful Dead tribute band made up of quite an impressive line-up that have all had their place in the story of the Grateful Dead. The band is lead by Further founding member and former Dark Star Orchestra guitarist, John Kadlecik. Kadlecik is joined by Jay Lane (Further founding member) on drums, Reed Mathis (played with Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann) and Jeff Chimenti.

Chimenti for all intents and purposes has been the full-time keyboardist for the Grateful Dead since Jerry passed. He has played with Further, The Other One, The Dead, Bob Weir and Ratdog, at Fare Thee Well and is currently in Dead and Company and Golden Gate Wingmen. To put this into context, Chimenti has played with one or more former Grateful Dead members for over 20 years (he joined Ratdog in May 1997), which is as long as the tenure of Grateful Dead keyboardists Keith Godchaux and Brent Mydland combined.

The Wingmen’s show is not characterized by frenetic jams and peak and melt your face, but rather considered, deliberate grooves and highlight the musical depth and abilities of the four members.

Get lost in the hypnotizing “Eyes of the World” in the second set to get a good flavor of GGW.
