Watch Trey Anastasio’s Tiny Desk Concert from 2015

Today’s jam features a throwback to Trey Anastasio’s appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk back in the winter of 2015.

Trey was in town for a gig and stopped by the NPR offices for a few tunes including

Trey usually is flanked by one of his bands on stage, although he will do a few select solo acoustic gigs every year. For the first time in his 30+ years of recording albums, Trey is prepping a solo acoustic release this Friday.

Trey Anastasio’s solo tour continued last night in Canton, OH at the Palace Theater. Trey has filled the back half of October with his solo acoustic shows throughout the Midwest and Northeast culminating in two shows at Carnegie Hall at the end of the month.

Trey’s set was highlighted by plenty of classic Phish tunes such as “Ghost,” “Fee,” “Chalkdust Torture,” “Wilson,” “Bathtub Gin” and more. In addition to originals, Ghosts from the Forest tunes and others, Trey filled the empty spaces with plenty of banter.

Just under two weeks since Trey Anastasio kicked off his solo acoustic tour in Mesa, Arizona, it came to a close with the second of two shows in Boulder, Colorado. Anastasio sold out the Macky Auditorium for the second night in a row last night.

As with the other shows in the tour, Trey treated Boulder to plenty of originals, Phish tunes and stories. Trey also continued playing the Phish Kasvot Vaxt tunes, making it all but certain that MSG will have the tunes in heavy rotation as well.

Listen to Trey Anastasio Join the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for Lush Phish Interpretations – 9/29/2017 Full Show AUD

Phish frontman, Trey Anastasio has had a busy 2017. While Phish didn’t do an extensive tour, they did perform an epic 13 show run at Madison Square Garden. In addition, Trey has been on the road with Trey Anastasio Band, solo acoustic gigs, incredible sit-ins and in late September, a gig with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Trey has been jamming with orchestra’s since debuting with the New York Philharmonic and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras in 2009. While Trey dons his electric guitar, the heavy lifting in the performance is done by the imaginative and lush interpretation by the orchestra. Tunes like “First Tube” take on a Hollywood soundtrack feel. Fan favorite’s like “You Enjoy Myself” have such a grand feel with the power of the orchestra backing.

Listen to Trey Anastasio’s Amazing Acoustic Show In Troy – 3/10/2017 Full Show AUD

What was once thought to be a drought year for Phish fans is now blossoming early. Trey has filled hearts and sang to our souls during his three night acoustic show run. The three shows in total feature nearly 60 songs from Phish and Trey’s repertoire, plus a couple of covers for good measure.

The Troy show was the second night of the run and excluding banter, boasted 23 songs. Phish fans will delight in the deep catalogue selections Trey made for this night (The Lizards > Guelah Papyrus) and all the nights.

Thanks to the tapers for the fabulous recordings, thank you to the audience for not being jerks during the performances and thank you to Trey for these beautiful shows!
