Listen to Phish’s Bust Out Tour Finale at Alpine Valley – 7/14/2019 AUD

Phish returned to Alpine Valley Music Theater for their third and the final night last night. The Sunday show also marked their summer 2019 tour finale.

While night one and two were big on the heavy hitters, Phish delivered bust out after bust out on night three. For those chasing some deep cuts on their list, this show was sure to check at least one off your list.

The P-fish crammed 15 tunes into the first set including these bust-outs: The Landlady (first since July 10, 2016, or 122 shows), Olivia’s Pool (November 17, 1997, or 692 shows), The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday and Avenu Malkenu (August 21, 2015, or 147 shows), Strange Design (July 8, 2016, or 124 shows). Wow.

While set one was big on the bust-outs, Phish served up jams and more bust-outs in set two. The jam of the night was the “Mercury > Ruby Waves” that kicked off the second set that extended past 50 minutes. Those in attendance were treated to what many consider the while whale of Phish shows—”Icculus.” The boys ended the set with “You Enjoy Myself > Catapult > Contact > You Enjoy Myself” before capping off the tour with a “More > Tweezer Reprise” encore.

Trey Anastasio’s mini solo acoustic tour continued on Monday in Eugene, Oregon at the Hult Center. Trey is just about two weeks away from joining the rest of Phish for four nights at MSG for their annual NYE in NYC run.

Trey shared originals, plenty of Phish tunes and great bits of banter throughout the performance. One of the stories Trey shared revealed a little more light on the Kasvot Vaxt story. According to Trey, Phish was performing at a festival in the early 90s in Denmark and shared a bill with “peak” Nirvana. Trey claimed that it was at this festival that they first met Kasvot Vaxt and said he would leave it to us to figure out the rest.

Listen to Trey Anastasio’s “Ghost > Say it to me S.A.N.T.O.S.” in Mesa – 12/3/2018 Full Show AUD

Trey Anastasio, who is in between the Phish Las Vegas and MSG runs, is out on the road for a handful of solo acoustic gigs. Last night he kicked off the solo tour in Mesa, Arizona at the Ikeda Theater at Mesa Arts Center.

One of the big questions after the Halloween run in Vegas, is whether Phish will work all the new material they dropped into future shows. Trey quickly answered that question by opening with “Turtle in the Clouds” which is the opening track to Kasvot Växt’s í rokk.

The show also included “You Gotta See Mama Every Night,” a tune Phish hasn’t played since 3/6/1993! For the encore, busted out some Oysterhead with “Rubberneck Lions” before playing more of the new material. Trey expertly wove “Ghost” and the new phan favorite “Say it to me S.A.N.T.O.S.” together. Halfway through the mash-up, Trey admits that on Halloween they forgot the second verse when they “covered” “Say it to me S.A.N.T.O.S.” If there was any question as to whether the song will be a new favorite, you can hear nearly the entire crowd singing “This is what space smells like” towards the end of the song.

Trey Anastasio Band put a few July tour dates on the calendar before Trey joins Phish on July 17th for their summer tour. TAB’s July 5th show marked the return of keyboardist Ray Paczkowski to the stage since having a brain tumor removed. From the looks of it, Ray didn’t miss a beat.

One of TAB’s three tour stops this July included a gig at Central Park in New York City.

Among the Trey Anastasio Band tunes and Phish cuts that TAB played, was a super funky “Ghost.” With Ray back on the keys and the absence of horns and backup vocals, the rendition took on a new dynamic and vibe.

Listen to Trey Anastasio Trio Funk New Orleans – 4/26/2018 Full Show AUD

Trey Anastasio Trio continued their tour in New Orleans this week with the first of three shows at the Civic Theater. The three shows are being webcast by popular demand.

As with the other shows this tour, Trey played two sets with an encore filled with a mix of Phish and Trey Anastasio Band tunes. With the absence of the horn section, Trey has picked up the slack with soloing and taking the lead. One of my favorite tunes of the evening was the super funky “Ghost” in the second set.

For the encore on night one in NOLA, Trey donned his acoustic guitar for “Strange Design” and “The Wedge” before the rest of the trio joined him for “Camel Walk.”
