Listen to Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Debut Motorhead

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead kicked off a three night run at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY on Friday night. The run at the Cap is followed by a month off until JRAD hits the road for their winter tour.

The Grateful Dead tribute band usually sticks to Dead tunes and the covers that the Dead covered during their 30 year tenure. Aside from teases, a full-on cover of say, Motorhead is a rarity for JRAD. Russo and his band went full-on Motorhead with a debut of “Fast and Loose” at the Cap on Friday night.

Listen to Melvin Seals Lead Night Two of Merry Jerry Christmas Band – 12/16/2018 Full Show AUD

Melvin Seals lead an all-star cast for a second night of A Merry Jerry Christmas Band at the Fox Theatre. Similar to the first night, the second night’s line-up included Melvin Seals on keyboards and vocals, John Kadlecik on guitar and vocals, Oteil Burbridge on bass and vocals, Halina Janusz on backing vocals, Lisa Malsberger on backing vocals, Ed Fletcher on drums and Brad Rhodus on drums.

Proceeds from the Merry Jerry event supported Story Book Adventure – a local organization, which brings both music and literacy education to kids around the Inland Empire metropolitan area located east of Los Angeles.

The second night included plenty of Jerry Garcia Band and Grateful Dead classics, as well as Bob Dylan and Beatles covers.

Listen to an All-Star Cast Celebrate Garcia at Merry Jerry Christmas Benefit in California – 12/15/2018 Full Show AUD

An all-star cast assembled to celebrate the music of Jerry Garcia and at the same time raising money for Story Book Adventure this past Saturday night. Story Book Adventure is an organization that brings both music and literacy education to kids around the Inland Empire metropolitan area located east of Los Angeles.

Dubbed A Merry Jerry Christmas Band, the line-up boasted Melvin Seals on keys and vocals, John Kadlecik on guitar and vocals, Oteil Burbridge on bass and vocals, Ed Fletcher on drums and percussion, Brad Rhodus and drums, Halina Janusz on backup vocals and Lisa Malsberger on backup vocals.

The benefit concert featured plenty of Jerry Garcia Band tunes, a couple of Dead tunes and some Dylan and Beatles covers.

The Marcus King Band’s fall tour brought them through Pittsburgh last week with a stop at Club AE. MKB packed the tiny 400 person venue and didn’t disappoint.

The Jerry Garcia Birthday Band played their second show in Vail last Saturday night. The super-JGB band includes Melvin Seals on keyboards/vocals, Tom Hamilton on guitar/vocals, Oteil Burbridge on bass/vocals, Duane Trucks on drums, Jackie LaBranch on vocals and Gloria Jones on vocals.

While show from the night before focused more on traditional Jerry Garcia Band material, the second night was a mix of JGB and Grateful Dead tunes.
