The Marcus King Band joined Yonder Mountain String Band and Gov’t Mule at the legendary Red Rocks over the summer. The gig marked Marcus King Band’s debut at the awe-inspiring venue.
MKB kicked off the action of the triple-bill and didn’t waste anytime kicking ass and taking names. The big jams of the set came at the end when Marcus welcomed his friend Warren Haynes to the stage.
Uncle Warren foreshadowed the Allman Brothers Tribute that Mule was to do later that evening and joined Marcus in an inspiring version of the Gregg Allman classic, “Dreams.” Warren stuck around for the closing tune of the set, the Marcus King Band original “Virginia.” The Marcus King Band’s self-titled album was produced by none-other than Warren Haynes and featured Haynes on slide guitar of “Virginia.”
