After an injury and subsequent surgery cut Phil’s 2019 touring plans short, the founding member of the Grateful Dead has big plans for 2020. Lesh is turning 80 this March and is celebrating with three shows at the cap with mystery line-ups and will be headlining LOCKN’ in June.
Phil started out the year on the right foot with a pair of shows at Terrapin Crossroads. Phil’s friends for the second night on the 2nd included Stu Allen, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Jason Crosby & John Molo.
It’s hard to believe that Phil has been performing Dead songs across 7 decades now!
In the middle of the second set, Phil and Friends through down a rocking, at times spaced out “Help on the Way > Slipknot! > Franklin’s Tower.” Phil seems to be in fine form and his friends all deserve high marks as well for the performance.
Thanks to Ted Silverman for the great footage!
