Marcus King Band is one of the biggest and brightest acts to emerge from 2016. While they released their first album in 2015, they really hit the scene like a ton of bricks in 2016. Leading up to New Year’s Eve, MKB did a smokin’ show at the 8 x 10 Club in Baltimore. A SBD recording of the show just surfaced and it’s HOT.
The setlist may only include 14 tracks, but King stretched those tunes out to a whopping two hours and 12 minutes. Some of the extended jams include some tasty covers including “Have You Ever Loved a Woman” by Freddie King (covered by Clapton), “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” by The Temptations (covered by Sly and Family Stone), “Hot Lanta” by Allman Brothers Band and “Had to Cry Today” by Blind Faith (Stevie Winwood and Eric Clapton.) This recording is crisp and showcases that King is more than worthy to honor guitar greats like Clapton and Allman. And oh yea, his backing band kicks ass too.
Thanks to Keith (The London Souls Historian) Karaffa and Marcus King Band for the fabulous soundboard recording!
