Tuesdays are so much better now that Peter Costello & Eric McRoberts have been dropping incredible Joe Russo’s Almost Dead AUD/SBD matrix recordings nearly every week on “Taper’s Tuesday.” The latest release is from the second of two shows last November at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, CA.
As with all JRAD shows, the delight is in the details. The extensive box score shows an incredible diversity of teases and segues throughout the show. From the Kinks to Rod Stewart, you never know what Joe Russo and the gang are going to sneak into their extensive Dead jams. The first set kicked off with a warm-up jam that headed into a massive 22 minute “Cumberland Blues” with a “Here Comes Sunshine” tease. Other highlights include Pink Floyd’s “Money” instrumental, “Viola Lee Blues” with a “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” tease and a killer second set “Eyes of the World.”
