Les Claypool took one of the late, late night slots during the second Jazz Fest weekend. Starting after 2 AM on Friday, Saturday morning at the Joy Theater, Claypool debuted Les Claypool’s Bastard Jazz.
LCBJ featured Les Claypool on bass and vocals, Stanton Moore on drums, Skerik on tenor saxophone and Mike Dillon on vibraphones & percussion.
Sean Lennon, who is Claypool’s partner in crime in The Claypool Lennon Delirium, sat in with Bastard Jazz on “Mr. Wright.”
According to taper RBayers, this is the first full set that Claypool and Stanton shared the stage and as you’l hear, they were locked in.
