The annual Brooklyn Comes Alive brought over 100+ artists to three venues in Brooklyn last weekend over just a two day period. Think of it like an indoor festival that covers three of the hottest venues in BK. In addition to traditional shows, Brooklyn Comes Alive featured a lot of unique collaborations that gave it that festival-vibe.
One of those once-in-a-lifetime shows was Eric Krasno and Chapter 2 plus a slew of friends. Chapter 2 includes Nigel Hall on keyboards and vocals, Louis Kato on drums and Chris Loftlin on bass. Throughout the night the band was joined by a jaw-dropping nine different guests such as John Scofield, George Porter Jr., Jennifer Hartswick and so many more.
Krasno’s set featured some original material but was chock full of covers that suited the special guests. In just the few opening tunes, Krasno busted out Jimi Hendrix’s “Manic Depression” and then brought out jazz-musician Will Blades on keyboards for a jamming version of the Beatles’ “Get Back.”
One of Krasno’s guitar heroes, John Scofield then came out for covers of “Hey Joe” and then Scofield’s “Hottentot.”
To finish out the set, Krasno welcomed a huge crew of guests to the stage to finish out the set including George Porter Jr. on bass, Cyrille Neville on vocals, Jon Cleary on keyboards, Maurice Brown,Lee Stone,Jennifer Hartswick on trumpet and Dick Enville on trumpet. The super group jammed on “No More Okedoke” and “Africa.”
