Listen to Jimi Hendrix’s Soundcheck and Show at Royal Albert Hall in London – 2/24/1969 SBD

YouTuber Boots and Flicks has been sharing a bunch of great classic bootlegs over the last couple of weeks. Earlier in the week, Jimi Hendrix’s February 24th show at the Royal Albert Hall in London was uploaded.

The soundboard recording is complete with Jimi’s soundcheck/rehearsal that features Hendrix working through several tunes including “Bleeding Heart.” The fruits of his labor can be heard at 2:27:53 with an exceedingly blistering version of the tune.

Listen to One of Jimi Hendrix’s Final Shows in Copenhagen ’70 – 9/3/1970 AUD

The Jimi Hendrix has released another vintage recording from the vault on their YouTube page. The recording comes from Jimi’s concert in Copenhagen, Denmark on this day 51 years ago.

As with the previous recording, the quality on this is a bit rough, but showcases Jimi at the height of his career. Unfortunately Jimi Hendrix would pass just 15 days after this show.

The Experience’s lineup in Copenhagen included Mitch Mitchell on drums and Billy Cox on bass. The setlist included plenty of Jimi’s earlier classics as well as some of the more recent material like “Hey Baby,” “Machine Gun,” and “Ezy Ryder.”

First Listen: Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live In Baltimore ’70 – 6/13/2021 AUD

Jimi Hendrix’s YouTube channel has released another recording from the archive. 51 years ago today, Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell & Billy Cox rolled into Baltimore Civic Center, just four months before Jimi would pass away.

The recording, while a rough audience recording, gives a glimpse into the straight fire that Jimi was capable of. The show features some newer tunes such as “Machine Gun,” and “Ezy Rider.”

Listen to Eric Krasno and John Scofield Cover Allman Brothers and Hendrix at the Blue Note – 12/1/2018 Full Show AUD

Eric Krasno’s new-ish project, E3 Organ Trio include Eric, Eric Finland on organ & keyboards and Eric Kalb on drums. Last weekend, the trio branched out from the Eric first name requirement and welcomed guitar-slinger John Scofield to their ranks.

Where Krasno’s other projects (Soulive and Lettuce) are high-energy and bring the funk, E3 delivers a sultry, classic blues band vibe.

E3 and Scofield treated NYC’s Blue Note to a night of classic covers including tunes by Allman Brothers Band, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder and Sam Cooke among others. E3 + Scofield jammed on a couple of John’s original pieces including “Boozer” and “Hottentot.”

Listen to Warren Haynes and an All-star Line-up for One Night Only at the Cap

Billed as One Night Only, Warren Haynes, John Medeski, George Porter Jr. and Joe Russo teamed up last Friday at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY to benefit debra for America. The all-star line-up got together to raise awareness of the rare painful genetic disease, Epidermolysis Bullosa, commonly known as EB and “the worst disease you’ve never heard of.”  When Warren got wind of this horrible disease that affects kids and was asked to play, he quickly reached out to George, John and Joe who were all free. The rest is history

The two sets included tons of classic covers from Jimi Hendrix, Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule and more.

The once in a lifetime line-up also included sit-ins from Skerik on saxophone on nearly half of both sets including a raging solo on the back-half of “Hey Joe.”
