Young blues gun Gary Clark Jr. is out on the road and traveling internationally this spring and summer supporting his new critically acclaimed album This Land.

The blistering, at times politically charged album also has some softer moments more suitable for the NPR offices. In between the three songs, Gary shares that he has his son out on the road with him and has discovered that it’s not easy being a dad and traveling bluesman simultaneously.

Despite being packed into the tiny offices with scores of NPR staff watching, Gary donned his leather jacket and beanie and tore as he crooned and shredded his way through tracks off the new album. The setlist included “What About Us,” “When I’m Gone,” and “Pearl Cadillac.”
