Steve Kimock, best known for his work with different Grateful Dead outfits, has released a new album and visited NPR for a Tiny Desk concert taping.

Kimock’s guitar playing takes on a much different direction from his traditional improvisational electric playing. This stripped down, acoustic set is mellow, yet full of soul, intentionality and precision.

In addition to Kimock’s playing, check out great bass work from Bobby Vega. After a couple of tunes with his band, Steve shares a final solo rendition of Surely This Day.
