Many Deadheads will agree that the Grateful Dead show on May 8th, at Barton Hall is their greatest show of all time. The whole month of May, 1977 was an incredible period for the Dead, but the pinnacle of late 1970’s Grateful Dead shows was at Cornell University.
The long-admired show is finally getting it’s time in the light along with other shows from May ’77 including Veterans’ Memorial Coliseum in New Haven, Connecticut (May 5th, 1977); Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts (May 7th, 1977); and Buffalo Memorial Auditorium in Buffalo, New York (May 9th, 1977). The shows will be released in a limited box set entitled Get Shown the Light, which is available for pre-order on the Dead’s website.
One of the best tunes from the mythical Barton Hall show is the second set “Morning Dew” closer. The Dew clocks in at 14 minutes and is one of the best definitive live versions of the song.
Thanks to the Dead for the official release!
