Dean Ween Group’s winter tour is in full swing with 6 shows in the bag and another 4 coming up. On inauguration day, the Deaner brought his band to New Haven, CT to perform at Toad’s Place.
DWG ended their show of covers and originals with one of the rarest Jimi Hendrix covers I have ever seen. Jimi tunes like “Little Wing” and “If 6 was 9” and even “Bold As Love” have been covered by bands like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gov’t Mule and Phish over the years. “Are You Experienced?” is the title track off of Jimi Hendrix Experience’s debut album back from 1967. The track plays like a march or anthem and is the perfect ending to the album.
Deaner and the boys tackled “Are You Experienced?” at Toad’s Place and nailed it. The audio is a little muddy at the beginning, but Dean’s psychedelic guitar shredding makes this a must listen.
Thanks to mk devo for the excellent 4k footage of the entire show! Start the embed from the beginning to watch the whole show.
