Ween might have been a mysterious choice for some on the Lockn’ bill, but after there set it was clear that their unique blend of quirk and hard-hitting rock combined with Dean Ween’s guitar skills was the perfect brew for live music fans.
Deaner has been known to wear his influences on his sleeve. I bet you can’t guess who the song “Dickey Betts” is about 😉 “A Tear for Eddie” is a tribute to another of Deaner’s guitar heroes, the late Parliament-Funkadelic guitarist Eddie Hazel.
“A Tear for Eddie” is an emotional, searing guitar opus that hits you in that tender spot over and over over again. The raw emotion and energy that the Deaner put into this one made it the highlight of their set.
If you dig Mickey playing P-funk style guitar, check out his cover of Maggot Brain.
Thanks to Lazy Lightning for the fantastic 4K footage!
Rewind to the beginning of the bed to check out a rocking version of “Beacon Light” as well.
