Widespread Panic, like so many other bands, have made their annual pilgrimage to Mexico for a weekend in paradise. Panic En La Playa returns to the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya for the 8th time this weekend.

In addition to four full Widespread Panic sets, a couple of late night sessions from the Playa Allstars and North Mississippi Allstars among other acts make this one of the best destination weekend in the jam band scene.

For the second night, JB and the boys kicked off the evening with a searing cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s “Smokestack Lightning.”

Thanks to Coloartist for the recording.
