Phil Lesh got the band back together for a warm-up pair of gigs in Chicago before hitting the east coast for his annual birthday run at the Capitol Theater. Lesh, joined up Jason Crosby on keys, Warren Haynes on lead guitar, John Molo on percussion and drums, Grahame Lesh on guitar, Natalie Cressman on trombone, Jennifer Hartswick on trumpet, and James Casey on saxophone and vocals.
It’s great to see Uncle Warren back on his feet, shredding and singing the blues again after sitting out Island Exodus earlier this year due to illness.
The Phriends opened the second show at The Salt Shed with a rocking version of Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love” that segued into “Deep Elem Blues.”
Thanks to Scott Sigman for the front row footage!
