Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real are back on YouTube with another installment of Soundcheck Songs. This time around, Lukas and the crew picked a song by the late Bobby Charles.

I’m not going to lie—I had to look up Bobby Charles. That’s part of what’s so wonderful about Nelson’s Soundcheck Songs series. Charles was a NOLA singer songwriter who pioneered swamp pop and played with The Band at the Last Waltz back in 1976. Nelson chose to cover the jazzy “I Must Be in a Good Place Now” for this week’s Soundcheck Song.

Thanks to Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real for one of my favorite pandemic series.
