Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s run at the Brooklyn Bowl last month was epic on so many accounts. John Mayer sat in for a set, they performed 50 Dead songs and covers and even did mid-show acoustic sets in the bowling lanes.
Luckily our ole’ pal Lazy Lightning was on hand to capture some of the action as well including this monster “Morning Dew.”
The sometimes mellow tune starts with a thunderous beginning right out of the gates. Tom Hamilton tops the Dew off with a soaring guitar solo to end the 14+ minute rendition.
LL’s vantage point for these shows was from almost behind the stage. The clarity of this 4k footage is remarkable and is able to capture small details of the performance that you wouldn’t have seen otherwise such as Joe Russo mouthing the lyrics or his drumming technique.
Thanks to Eric McRoberts and Pete Costello for the stellar audio patch.
