The Grateful Dead have made these self-isolation days a little easier with their new Friday night streams and a wealth of footage from their archives via their All the Years Live YouTube series. The latest footage to hit their channel is from summer 1990 at Orchard Park.
The vintage tune, “Loose Lucy” which made it’s bust-out after sitting on the shelf for 16 years earlier in the spring of 1990, was tucked into the first set during the Dead’s show at Rich Stadium on July 16, 1990. Here is what Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux has to say about the performance: “After a 16 year hiatus, Loose Lucy returned to the repertoire on 3/14/90 at the Capital Center in Landover, MD, and it was an incredibly well-received bust-out. It came back in its slower, 1973 arrangement, not the peppier 1974 arrangement as heard on Mars Hotel. There was nothing better than hearing tens of thousands of fans singing the chorus back to the band: thank you for a real good time!”
Thanks to the Grateful Dead for the footage!
