Listen to Phish Kick Off Their Tour in Lake Tahoe – 7/17 & 7/18/2018 Full Show AUDs

Phish kicked off their long awaited summer tour at Lake Tahoe this week. Phish, forgoing a summer tour last year in favor of 13 delicious shows at Madison Square Garden, is showing love to the West and East coasts this summer.

As with all tours, Phish needs to warm up and clear out the cobwebs. That being said, Phish didn’t waste any time trotting out phan phavorites at their 2-night run in Tahoe.

Night one included a funky “Moma Dance” in the first set and a chill “Ghost” that segued into another head-rocking tune, “Funky Bitch.” The highlight of the second set was the “Carini > Slave to the Traffic Light.”

Night two’s first set was arguably stronger than their second set which included a DwD and YEM.

Update: Watch Trey Anastasio Band’s Funky “Ghost” in Central Park – 7/6/2018 Full Show AUD

Update: Full show AUD thanks to Scott Brown.

Trey Anastasio Band put a few July tour dates on the calendar before Trey joins Phish on July 17th for their summer tour. TAB’s July 5th show marked the return of keyboardist Ray Paczkowski to the stage since having a brain tumor removed. From the looks of it, Ray didn’t miss a beat.

One of TAB’s three tour stops this July included a gig at Central Park in New York City.

Among the Trey Anastasio Band tunes and Phish cuts that TAB played, was a super funky “Ghost.” With Ray back on the keys and the absence of horns and backup vocals, the rendition took on a new dynamic and vibe.

Listen to Trey Anastasio Trio’s Tour Opener in Cleveland – 4/17/2018 Full Show AUD

The Trey Anastasio Trio kicked off their first show since 1999 in Cleveland this week. The paired down rendition of the Trey Anastasio Band includes bassist Tony Markellis and drummer Russ Lawton. The reason for the skeleton crew is that TAB keyboardist Ray Paczkowski is recovering from surgery to remove a brain tumor.

Despite the 19 year gap between shows, the trio sounded sharp and raring to go. The two sets included healthy doses of TAB and Phish tunes. Trey took the lead where Page or the horns would usually solo. While Trey was at the helm on most solos, Tony and Russ kept the groove going, especially on tunes like “46 Days.”

The trio continues their tour tonight in Chicago with the first of three sold out shows.

Update: Watch Phish Bust Out Prince and Neil Young Covers at Night Five of Baker’s Dozen – 7/26/2017 Full Show AUD

Update: Thanks to Phish Rabbi for the full show AUD!

After the ultimate jam-filled show on Tuesday night, Phish took a much different approach to night five of Baker’s Dozen. The donut of the night was powdered and Phish threw everyone a curve ball with the Fleet Foxes’ “White Winter Hymnal” cover for the opener of the evening. As they had done in the past, Phish sang the tune a cappella and nailed it.

The P-fish kept the first set (and the rest of the show) cover-heavy including “My Soul” and Ween’s “Roses are Free.”

The second set kicked off with a mean but blissful, jam-heavy Carini.

Phish went the extra mile and jammed on Prince’s “1999.” According to Phish.net, 1999 was played for the first time since December 31, 1998 (524 shows). Thanks to rdeal1999 for the footage (the sound is great!)

To put the icing on the cake (or the powder on the donut in this case), Phish took the opportunity to pay homage to the donut of the night one more time in the encore. It was hard for me to believe, but their cover of Neil Young’s “Powderfinger” was their first time playing the tune.

It’s hard to believe that Phish can keep these wild, surprise-filled, donut-themed shows going for another eight shows, but if any band can do it, it’s them!

Set One: 8:09 pm – 9:28 pm
01 White Winter Hymnal
02 Cars Trucks Buses
03 My Soul
04 Roses Are Free
05 The Very Long Fuse
06 Gumbo
