Oteil Burbridge surfaced last week for a backyard concert in Montville, NJ. Dubbed as the Tree of Life House Party Series, this is the 8th concert in the series.

Oteil was joined by Tom Guarna on guitar and a series of guests throughout the evening. Oteil’s set was centered mainly around Dead and Jerry Garcia Band material with the bonus “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” tucked in the middle of “Slipknot!”

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead wrapped up their three night run at the Capitol Theatre. After a couple of tricks for night one and two, JRAD had one more card up their sleeve for the run finale.

After two sets of classic Dead, a couple of Jerry Garcia Band tunes and a Dire Straits set two opener, JRAD returned to the stage for the encore. But not before Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon rushed out on the stage and proceeded to get on his hands and knees and bow down to the band.

Chris Harford also joined JRAD and Fallon for the encore which was a giant 12 minute classic rock medley. The medley started off with Neil Young’s “Fuckin’ Up” which is write in Fallon’s wheelhouse. Mid-song, Fallon who was donning a Capitol Theatre hoodie, downs his beverage, finally wrestles the microphone free and takes center stage for the chorus.

Fallon leads Harford and JRAD into Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” and The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” before returning to Young’s “Fuckin’ Up.” While the sit-in won’t win any awards, it was a fun way to end three nights of JRAD at the Cap!

Home for the Holidays, a Jerry Garcia celebration returned on the 14th to the Capitol Theater for a second night. The evening’s line-up included Oteil Burbridge on bass and vocals, Tom Hamilton on guitar and vocals, Melvin Seals on keyboards, B3 organ, and vocals, Duane Trucks on drums, Jacklyn LaBranch on vocals and Lady Chi on vocals.

As they did the night before, Melvin seals lead the all-star crew in two stellar sets of Dead, JGB and other assorted covers.

Listen to Warren Haynes and The Last Waltz Band’s Star-Studded Finale in Nashville – 11/23/2019 AUD

Warren Haynes and The Last Waltz Band pulled into it’s final station this fall on Saturday night in Nashville, TN. The tour finale includes the all-star line-up plus a slew of guests.

The Bridgestone Arena witnessed a rare appearance from original The Band member Robbie Robertson and countless other guests including Nathaniel Rateliff, Margo Price, Darius Rucker, Michael McDonald, Emmy Lou Harris and Vince Gill.

What a historic evening and a fitting end to a fabulous tribute tour. Taper Z-Man reported that “Who Do You Love,” “Chest Fever,” “Helpless,” “Mystery Train,” “Mannish Boy,” “Evangeline,” “Forever Young,” and “I Shall be Released” were the highlights of the evening.

The Last Waltz Band, featuring Warren Haynes and a list of who’s who in the jam rock scene continued their 12 date tour last week at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, CT.

The Last Waltz Band is Warren Haynes, Don Was, Jamey Johnson, Lukas Nelson, John Medeski, Terence Higgins, Mark Mullins & The Levee Horns with special guests Cyril Neville, Dave Malone and Bob Margolin.

While the setlist was nearly identical to the Red Bank show, the musicians were firing on all cylinders again. And to be honest, with a setlist like this, why do you need to switch it up?
