Watch Remastered Unreleased Footage of the Grateful Dead’s Show at the Capitol Theater from ’77

Deadhead and video technician Christopher Hazard has unearthed and polished a gem—the Grateful Dead’s show from April 27, 1977 at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ. Hazard has been remastering and upgrading when possible old concert footage from the Dead and JGB and posting it on his YouTube channel.

What a treat for new and veteran Deadheads alike to see concert footage from 1977 in 1080p!

Listen to Dark Star Orchestra Recreate Classic ’76 Dead Show in Boulder – 9/6/2019 AUD

Dark Star Orchestra kicked off a three night run in Colorado on Friday night. The first two shows of the run where in Boulder at the Boulder Theater. Tonight’s finale will be at Red Rocks where they will recreate the Grateful Dead’s Red Rocks show from the same date on 9/8/1983.

On night one of their run, DSO chose a juicy 1976 show to recreate—July 13, 1976 at the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco, CA. The show kicks off with a monster “Mississippi Half-Step” and never stops! DSO throws in a couple of bonus tracks for good measure including “Mr. Charlie” and “Box of Rain.”

Listen to JRAD’s Blistering Peach Festival Sets – 7/21/2018 Full Show AUD

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, fresh off a tour stop in Boston wear Tommy Hamilton wielded Jerry Garcia’s Wolf guitar, hit up the annual Peach Festival in Scranton, PA. JRAD got one of the two headlining spots of the day among a stacked line-up that included Dark Side of the Mule, moe. and Little Feat, Blackberry Smoke and Chris Robinson Brotherhood.

JRAD’s two sets included both Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band classics. Both sets included plenty of JRAD signature teases. Despite the inclement weather, JRAD laid it all out on the stage.

Phil Lesh has joined forces for jam band all-stars moe. for the third time in the last couple of years. Last year Phil, Bobby and moe. teamed up on the last day of LOCKN’ and in May Phil and moe. teamed up at Summer Camp. Over the last weekend, moe. traveled to the Bay Area and teamed up with Phil and the Terrapin Family band for a four-show run.

The last show of the run was outside in the TrX Backyard and started early in the afternoon before Phil and the Terrapin Family Band played into the late afternoon and evening.

Thanks to nowiknowuryder we have some great footage of the final backyard show. In addition to a smokin’ “Deal,” Moe Phil also covered The Band’s “The Weight.”

Watch Phil Lesh Join Scott Law & Friends for Winter Solstice Jam

If there one thing I have learned since starting Jam Buzz, there is always a party happening at Terrapin Crossroads and the same band never plays twice. It seems as if Phil Lesh is always dropping in on an ever evolving cast of talented musicians.

Last night, Phil Lesh joined Scott Law and Friends which included Grahame Lesh, Dave Zirbel, Brian Rashap & Jeremy Hoenig. The gig was landed on the night before the winter solstice and kicked off with the appropriate Dead cover of “Cold Rain and Snow.”

The gig was played in the bar and had a very easy feel to it. Long pauses in between songs to discuss the next one the band would play and Phil chatting up people in the crowd punctuated the set. Some criticize Lesh for not going on the road, but looking at him playing with friends in his bar, in his hometown, can you really blame him for not wanting to go on the road?
