YouTuber Christopher Hazard has returned with another remastered gem from the vault. This time we tune in to Jerry Garcia Band’s early show in Asbury Park, NJ on July 9th, 1977.

The original footage that Hazard remastered was missing the first part of the show. The 35+ minutes of footage captures “Sitting in Limbo,” “Mystery Train” and the “How Sweet it Is” encore.

Watch Oteil Burbridge and Friends Close Out Denver Comes Alive – 1/31/2020 Video

Denver Comes Alive, a one-day quadruple billed event went down last night at the Mission Ballroom in Denver. Yesterday’s action included performances from Star Kitchen and Friends, Ghost-Live (a special collab between Soulive and Ghost-Note), A Tribute to Art Neville and Dr. John by Poppa Funk and the Night Tripper and finally Oteil Burbridge and Friends.

Oteil’s line-up was stacked—it included  Eric Krasno, Melvin Seals, Scott Metzger, Jeff Sipe, Alfreda Gerald & Weedie Braimah.

Oteil and Friends treated the Mission Ballroom to plenty of Dead and JGB favorites including “Scarlet Begonias” and “How Sweet It Is.”

Widespread Panic’s annual Mexican excursion, Panic en la Playa concluded last night in Riviera Maya at the Hard Rock Hotel. The four nights included four nights of Widespread Panic, afternoon sets and late night shows by Jerry Jospeh, Marcus King, Big Something and others.

One of the highlights of Panic en la Playa is always delivered by the Playa Allstars during their late night sets. This year’s Playa Allstars lineup included George Porter Jr. on bass and vocals, Ivan Neville on keyboards and vocals, Eric Krasno on guitar and vocals, Cyril Neville on percussion and vocals, Terence Higgins on drums, Cochemea Gastelum on saxophone
and Nicki Bluhm on vocals.

Krasno, Porter Jr. and the rest of the Playa Allstars covered everything from Fleetwood Mac to Nirvana during their first late night set.

First Listen: Listen to Jerry Garcia Band’s Final Show – 4/23/1995 AUD

Jerry Garcia played his final show on April 23, 1995 at the Warfield Theater. Jerry went on to tour with the Dead that summer before he passed away in August.

Jerry’s final band line-up included John Kahn, Melvin Seals, Jaclyn La Branch, Gloria Jones, and Donny Baldwin.

While even the most fervent Garcia fans will admit 1995 was not his best year, Jerry flashes passages of brilliance. Over two sets, Jerry and his band treated the Warfield to 13 songs that amounted to a classic JGB show. From old favorites like “How Sweet It Is” to originals like “Deal,” this is by all accounts a solid show.

While recordings of the the show exist, this particular audience recording by Troy Wallwork is fresh and new to circulation. While other recordings may have errors and flaws, this recording is about as good as we’re going to get.

Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band did a rare brief west coast stint up north last week. Phil and the Fam did a pair of shows in Portland, OR before landing in Seattle, WA on Sunday.

Phil treated Seattle to an eclectic setlist that included plenty ‘o Dead and covers abound. Among the covers, were two head nods to two Seattle natives—Nirvana and Jimi Hendrix.

In the first set, Phil and his crew jammed on “Wind Cries Mary.” To close out the second set, Jason Crosby took the lead on a surprising “Lithium/Friend of the Devil” mashup. The unmistakable Nirvana riff and chorus was fused with “Friend of the Devils” lyrics for a fun surprise.
